Historic Northampton will host the Florence Community Band for an early evening lawn concert. Special guests this evening include students from Northampton High School and the Massachusetts 10th Volunteer Infantry. Highlighting local Northampton history, the Florence Community Band will play selections with roots in the Civil War, the Abolitionist Movement and Irish Immigration. Featured selections are American Patrol, The Great Locomotive Chase and Go Tell it on the Mountain.
As part of a research assignment, the students will give a short introduction relating the piece to a time or event in history. The Massachusetts 10th Volunteer Infantry in period costumes and props will be on hand to answer questions and provide historical information about the Civil War.
Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets.
Free Admission. Donations graciously accepted. The museum will be open.
