Historic Northampton received a $1,000 grant from The Northampton Arts Council to support summer music concerts. The grant will fund at least two concerts this summer. The first will be a July 4th celebration featuring a six-piece brass band playing marches and rags from the turn of the century. The Valley Jazz Ensemble will also play on July 4th. A second concert, scheduled for early August, will feature Peter Blanchette and the Virtual Consort. Featured on National Public Radio's Prairie Home Companion, the Virtual Consort plays a range of styles from classical to contemporary. |
