Millions of forgotten images lie in the backs of closets all across America. Home movies are a vast historical treasure virtually untapped by historians. New technology makes their preservation more practical and accessible. Clio Associates, a company specializing in recording family histories is one of the few facilities that can transfer 8mm and Super 8 home movie film to digital video including DVD format.
Your personal home movies can now be preserved for posterity while benefiting Historic Northampton. In partnership with Historic Northampton, Clio Associates now offers to donate a portion of the cost of transferring film to Historic Northampton's preservation programs. At 15 cents a foot, a fifty foot reel would cost $7.50 transferred to digital video. Clio Associates would donate 50 cents of that cost to Historic Northampton.
Clio Associates also offers workshops on oral history and recording life stories. These one day workshops will take place on September 15th and October 13th. Registration deadlines for the workshops are September 7th and October 4th respectively. Workshops are limited to ten participants. Discounts are available to friends of Historic Northampton.
