Historic Northampton Wins City Award for Documentary Film

A mini-documentary film on the legendary 1936 Connecticut River flood premiered at a recent Northampton City Council Meeting. Commissioned by the city Planning Office, the film was produced by Historic Northampton Museum & Education Center.

Waiting for the Flood chronicles the devastation wrought by the 1936 flood through photographs, archival film footage and interviews of survivors. Narrated by WFCR's Bob Paquette, the film was directed by David Parnell. City Planning Director, Wayne Feiden presented a Special Recognition Award to Historic Northampton and Parnell, at the City Council premiere Thursday night. The film was shown over Northampton Cable TV as part of its regular City Council Broadcast. The meeting took place at the community Room at JFK Middle School on February 20th. Waiting for the Flood is one of several film and audio clips available online at Historic Northampton's new multimedia website.
