Sylva Church, d. 1822

Sylva Church, d. 1822

SYLVA CHURCH b. 1756 d. April 12, 1822 Sacred to the Memory of Sylva Church A Coloured woman, who for many years lived in the family of N. Storrs, died 12 April, 1822, AE66 Very few possessed more good qualities than she did. She was for many years a member of Mr. Williams' Church, and we trust lived agreeable to her profession, and is now inheriting the promises. Nothing more is known of Sylva Church than is written on this remarkable stone. This explicit evidence of the presence of people of color makes this stone and Sarah Gray's adjacent stone extremely important.
