Thomas Monroe Shepherd, d. 1923

THOMAS MUNROE SHEPHERD Philanthropist b. September 18, 1856 d. February 3, 1923 A descendant of Seth Pomeroy, Shepherd was a philanthropist within Northampton, He gave a memorial stained glass window in honor of his parents to the Northampton Unitarian Society in 1905. He was a trustee of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, and designed and supervised the Henry Shepherd Surgery, a modern and fully equipped surgery building, as a memorial to his father. His will stipulated that the Shepherd home be turned into a museum, following the death of his wife. Located at 66 Bridge Street, the Shepherd Home is now part of the property of Historic Northampton, and displays his artifacts.
