Northampton Architecture- Quadrant 3Memorial HallMemorial Hall, located at 240 Main Street, was built in 1872. Cincinnati-based architect James McLaughlin designed the building in "General Grant Mansard"style. Memorial Hall is the only example on Main Street of Post Civil War General Grant style architecture. Rich red brick, white stone trim, and the black Mansard roof combine to create ornamental effects that contrast with the picturesque City Hall, the monumental Unitarian Church, and the delicately classical Academy of Music.
