Furniture Collection

Historic Northampton's furniture collection numbers approximately 300 pieces. Dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, the furniture collection consists of locally made and used case pieces, chairs and sofas, beds, standing and hanging shelves, trunks, tables, tall case clocks, etc. Some highlights of this collection include a Hadley-type chest from the Strong family,a 17th century cradle, a sofa and desk and bookcase ("secretary") from the Damon family, the desk and bookcase of Governor Caleb Strong, the David Judd and the Clark family sideboards, two tall case clocks; one by Nathan Storrs, the other by Isaac Gere, and an excellent collection of windsor chairs
