Other Collections
Other items in the museum's collection include tools of all sorts (medical, textile, cooking, farming,
animal husbandry, carpentry, etc.), weapons, fire equipment, toys, models, trade signs, transportation artifacts, and an excellent collection of Connecticut River Valley Native American artifacts and baskets.
The Shepherd family collection consists of approximately 5,000 objects and
documents owned by the Shepherd family, the majority of which were gathered by Thomas Shepherd prior to 1923. This
collection includes ethnographic and numismatic artifacts collected on a world tour in the early 20th century. The Shepherd House is furnished with ancestral artifacts dating from the 17th to the late 19th century.
